February Newsletter

Howdy Y’all!

Just want to say thank you to everyone for your continued support!

We don’t normally get the ‘New Years Resolution’ crowd but January hit the gym especially hard because of the surge… so things have been pretty slow.

Appreciate you all sticking around and all the things you guys do to support our little place. 🙂

To all the new members:  HI!  You guys are the most important group of people because you  guys set the foundation to the next generation of members and athletes to represent TBI.  We are always so happy and grateful to have you around so please do stick around and train hard!

Sign-in System:

Thank you all for using it and keep at it!!

Erin’s fight:

You may or may not know Erin but she was a long time member of TBI, starting off her Muay Thai career essentially at TBI many many years ago.

She moved away 3 years ago to Santa Barbara but has made a consistent effort to come very often to still train with us at TBI and still considers herself a team mate of ours.

This weekend we had the opportunity to come up to the Bay Area to compete and Erin was able to put on another stellar performance with a dominant victory over her opponent.

For all the physical and existential pain attributed to coaching, it’s these moments of growth and the becoming of a person that you invest yourself in coming to fruition…

It’s THAT- that is what makes everything worth doing.

Congrats Erin.

Coach Jeannie’s fight and Adelina:

Unfortunately, Coach Jeannie’s opponent for this weekends event fell ill.  We hope her a speedy recovery and wish her and her team the best.

We do have one of our youths competing in the morning portion of the event, so wish us luck!

USMF Tournament:

Considered to be one the most important tournaments in USA Muay Thai history.  The ‘World Game Qualifiers’ is an invitation only tournament for a spot on TEAM USA with the opportunity to compete in the 2022 World Games.

The World Games is considered the sister event to the Olympics.

We will have two athletes competing in the tournament, Both Erin at 139.7 lbs and Coach Jeannie at 105.6 lbs will be competing against the top U.S. athletes at those weight classes.

Lets’ give them a round of applause and help them get fit for battle.  It’s gonna be a doozy 🙂

Youtube Videos:

Just want to remind everyone that we have a YouTube library full of training videos with techniques and other material pertinent to our classes.

We have technique videos on attacks and defense as taught by us here at TBI as well as instructional videos for pad holding.

These are great supplemental training videos-  I often get asked ‘What can I do at home to help expedite the learning the sport?’ And I always respond:  ‘Watch Muay Thai, watch our YouTube vids!’

The last two videos are some of the most requested videos as they are the most challenging techniques to learn and understand, check them out:

An homage to the amalgamation of cultures surrounding our gym;  A Thai Martial Art and our Latin-American heritage, ¡VAMOS TB! or ‘LET’S GO TBI’  is one of the many mottos we keep here.

I don’t think an explanation of its meaning is necessary, entiendes mendes?
