April Newsletter

Hello everyone,

Happy April!  Spring is here, hours have changed meaning there’s more day light, and summer is around the corner.

Have you read our core values yet?  ‘GHAP’?

Gratitude, Humility, Abundance, Passion!

I want to write a little bit as to what gratitude means to me.

Gratitude is my attitude, and I try and keep it in my mind everyday.  Matter of fact, one of the first things I do when first wake is write three things that I am grateful for.

Doing this small little act has helped with my own attitude immensely, hence:

‘Gratitude is the attitude’.

I am grateful for the physical, spiritual and mental capacity to train and teach Muay Thai.

I am grateful for an awesome team to help me manage the gym.

And I am grateful for the members that allow me and the rest of the coaches to teach them Muay Thai.

Have you thought about what you are grateful for lately?

Anyways, hope everyone has a great April.

In the words of the great Young Jeezy:  ‘LET’S GET IT’.

Re:  The Muay Thai Development League San Diego Experience

What a great experience!

I thought the event was ran well, I like the idea of 3×2 min rounds and the intensity was hard enough to develop experience but not cause unnecessary injury.

It was really cool to see everyone perform and thought you all looked great!

Shout out to Coach Tony for the corner assist.  Appreciate you making the round trip in a day to help out the crew.

Thank you to the entire MDL staff for putting this on.  I highly recommend it!

Next one is in May for those interested and curious.

Coach Erin on deck:

Not since their fighting debut 7 years ago has Coach Erin fought in LA, so this will be a nice homecoming.

15 Year Coaching Anniversary:

Being a fighter is to be selfish, being a coach is to be selfless.

It’s a job that’s all in and requires constant education.

But damn.. It’s fun as fuck.

You literally get to train and study martial arts all day.

And despite all this, I still feel like I have no idea what I’m doing. 😅

But as ‘students’ of mine are nearing their decade mark of training under me.

My lineage grows.  Like when you see a new stem on a plant bud.

‘Wow.’ 🤩

Anyways, I dug up another old blog post about my own coach, Kru Santi if you would like to know a little more about our own Muay Thai lineage.

Thank you all for letting me coach you.

New Youtube Video:  The Definitive Belly Pad Buying Guide

Peep the full video on our Youtube channel, just a review of the brands of belly pads and what I recommend if you are interested in ever purchasing one.

Belly pads, do we really need them?

No- But to get the complete training experience, YES.

You can use it to vary targets, or simply for the sake of safety. For pad holding, or technique drilling.

Maybe you wear one for some situational sparring(?) What about body shields and protectors? Yea, we cover them too!
