October Newsletter

What’s up lizards!

Short one this month, not a whole lot going on. The biggest thing is our schedule change happening in a month. Check out the following bit for more info!

Schedule Change

One of the biggest responses to our summer survey was adding ‘All Levels’ classes to our 7 PM time slots. It was a concern last year as well, but we couldn’t get the staffing right for it. This year, it’s finally changing! I appreciate your patience with all this.

Starting Monday, November 4th:

  • Monday and Wednesday 6 PM classes will have:
    • ‘Advanced Muay Thai’ on one side of the mat
    • ‘Intro/Beginners Muay Thai’ on the other side.
We’ll try this for the next couple of months, but it might change depending on crowding issues.
  • 7 PM Competition class will remain, but the other side of the mat will now be ‘All Levels’ Muay Thai.

Common FAQ’s about these schedule changes:

Can I join Advanced?

  • Advanced Class Criteria:
    • Minimum 6 months of consistent Muay Thai training
    • A ‘beginner’ understanding of clinching (Pummel and Balance Breaking)

Can I join All Levels?

  • All Levels technically means beginners. The learning curve is a bit higher than Intro/Beginner classes, but it doesn’t hurt to try! We suggest taking one month of Beginner classes first to get comfortable with pad holding.

Feel free to talk to me if you have any concerns about where you think you belong or about the schedule changes.

Wednesdays Advanced Class Returns

First class back: Wednesday, October 23rd. Thank you for your patience!

Organizing Between Classes

Since we’ve been cleaning the mats between classes, there’s been a bit of traffic and crowding during transitions. This was brought up in last year’s survey, and we’re finally trying to fix the issue.

What can help:

  • Use the rear outside benches and the front benches (being added this week) as lobbies between classes.
  • Use the front entrance to enter and the rear exit to leave the gym.

We hope this helps reduce crowding and confusion. Thanks for your cooperation!

Coach Erin’s Victory!

After 5 hard-fought rounds, Coach @erin.graceless walks away with the win!
Congrats to her, and much respect to her opponent for such a tough fight.

This event marked several milestones for us:

  • First time fighting FULL RULES in the U.S.
  • First time fighting on a fight night card under USA Muay Thai Sanctioning

Thank you to all TBI members and friends across the U.S. for tuning in and supporting us. Big shoutout to Franco, Mher, and Josh Chacon for your help in training Coach Erin.
