June Newsletter

 مرحبا جميعا

(Hello everyone in arabic)

June!  Half way through 2022 and what a great year thus far.  Lotta growing pains but “C’est la vie’”

Bit of a quiet month with only one event planned for Saturday June 18th.  More on that later. 🙂

As always, thank you all for your patience while i’m away.  Bit of a lotta travel for me this year and i’m always gutted to leave the gym as I miss it veyr much while i’m away..  But it’s not all travel for vain.

I’m out here schmoozing, kissing hands and shaking babies in order to become a better version of myself;   As a coach, as a mentor, as a leader and as a human being.

See y’all soon!

Re:  TBI 10 Year Anniversary

Everyone that came, brought food,  participated in the sparring etc.

THANK YOU SO MUCH.

I appreciate everyone spending some time with us to celebrate a very special moment in our 10 year anniversary.

Through catastrophe and pandemics, our little gym has withstood the wavering of events and still continues to move forward, stronger than ever.

Appreciate everyone’s everlasting support.  Much love!

Reminder of the schedule change:

No more sparring classes Monday nights (Open sparring only in the ring)

Wednesday evening sparring will be conducted by myself (Coach Vic)

(Coach Nate will still be here Tuesdays and Saturdays)

Women’s Muay Thai is now FRIDAYS at 5PM effective immediately.

Many Thanks!!!

Coach Jeannie on deck!

Coach Jeannie is set to defend her California State Title against Kennedy Rielly in rematch from this past april.

Tickets available at the gym $45!

Please come out and support!!

Saturday, June 18th at the Burbank Marriott.

TBI Goes to Thailand:  TBI Thailand Retreat 2022

Friday 10/7-Saturday 10/22 to Sit Jao Pho Muay Thai in Hua Hin  (3 hours south of bangkok)

I was there in 2019 (I don’t know if you ever heard) and was just blown away by the level of the sport in the camp, but more so the friendliness and welcoming vibe Kru F and his group of trainers had at the gym.

I credit my trip to that camp as one of my more defining moments in my coaching career and I would love to share this experience with you, whether you want to train and get better at the sport, or better as an athlete, or even as a coach.

What makes this place so special?  They specialize in a certain style of the art (Muay Femur, technical Muay Thai) and visually, the aesthetic of their style is unmatched.

This is the resort closest to Sit Jao Pho where most of the boxers stay.  You also have the option of staying at the camp.

Seems to be booked (for now), average price for night seems to be ~$30 USD for other similar locations.

Would consider renting a house as well.

Training will be about $300 for two weeks.  You basically get your own trainer/dedicated pad holder for that whole time.

Flights average ~$999

$50 private transport from BKK to Hua Hin

Food is relatively affordable ($3 a meal last time i was there)

Re:  Covid travel requirements

Traveling to Thailand seems to be much easier now if you are vaccinated.

Being vaccinated allows one to travel without having to quaratine… but one must purchase a Covid Travel insurance policy  which is about 20-50 dollars depending on who you choose.

For more information:

Assume 14 days:

Travel:  999~

Room:  449~

Food:   149~

Training:  299~

Covid Insurance:  49~

Total cost:  1999~

These amounts are meant to give everyone a rough estimate as to the amount needed for the trip.  Could be more, could be less.

A head count, planning and booking things now would make things easier and affordable

Consider this an investment to yourself.  Whether you are there to improve as an artist or athlete, or immerserve yourself in a different culture, to view and experience humanity from a different lense.

TBI is Moving?

First of all, we are definitely NOT closing.  Our lease is up and the landlord seems to be keen on moving us out ASAP (hence the sign) but am currently negotiating a lease for a spot slightly bigger in the same neighborhood.

Will keep everyone posted and thank you all for your concerns!
