The Winning CM-15 Paddles
I have to admit, I was never a fan of paddles. Never really cared to hit them, nor use them as a tool to train athletes with.
I almost felt like it was cop out or lazy coaching. Boy was I wrong.
The more cognizance I became of my own health, and the sustainability of my body, the more I started looking towards alternative training methods that didn’t solely remove me from holding pads, nor have may athletes and clients just training on the bag or shadow boxing.
I felt that boxing paddles presented a good compromise of an engaging teaching tool to help people learn, or to warm athletes up or perhaps teach them a combination or techniques that they can work on their own.
Long story short, I was trying to minimize the amount of time my joints were under impact by mixing a combination of paddle work, and focus mitt/thai pad work.
Turn out pretty good. I think they are a great teaching tool combined with all the other tools available.
Another example of their use is teaching new members at the gym the basics of boxing, without the fear of injury that comes form using focus mitts with beginners.
Yet again, I find the paddles a useful and engaging training medium.
I opted for the Winning Paddles because of the brand’s consistent product quality and stellar repuation.
Coming in at about $175 US dollars- they are costly and sure there are other brands on the market that are siginificantly cheaper but they don’t come with the brands reputation of quality products.
Think of it as an investment.
How many times will you have to replace the other paddles and what will be accumulated cost of replacing equipment versus a one time purchase (*Hopefully* lol)
Anyways, check out the video for a little unboxing, breakdown of construction and some examples of their use.
