Hi.
It’s may! 7 years ago this month I taught my first class under the name ‘The Thai Boxing Institute’. After teaching at other gyms for 3 years before that i decided to go on my own.
What the hell was i thinking? To say i felt like i was way over my head would be an understatement, and in times of heavy stress i always fall back to my Muay Thai training and think:
‘well, it could be worse- i could be getting punched in the face infront of a crowd of hundreds/thousands.’
I don’t think there’s anything worse than that too be honest. everything else in comparison seems to be not too bad after all haha.
Can’t wait what the next 7 years have in store. Thank you everyone for everything, ever. 🙂

✨7th year anniversary party✨ ✨Saturday, May 11th 2019 at 6 pm at TBI ✨ Please join us for an all ages event with catered food by a local thai restaurant as well as both non-alcoholic and alcoholic beverages, demonstrations, raffles and giveaway. Please feel free to bring friends, family and significant others :) Thank you everyone for all your continued support. I thought it would be fun to share a few of my favorite memories the last 7 years. Hope you enjoy a little trip down memory lane… Memory 1: Our first permanent location. An old vacant storefront in mar vista. Rent was hella cheap then, miss that FOR SURE. The first night was spent painting the walls in what seemed like an endless task. Textured walls using a roller? No fucking way and never again haha. Second picture was our first official day open after maybe 5 days of fixing up, organization and preparation? Memory 2: I was in chicago when i was bombarded with text messages with people asking if i was ok and why the gym was on the news. Active shooter in Mar Vista and Santa Monica College. I remember being so stoked putting up that sign and seeing it like this and in this context bummed me out. Life can be cruel sometimes.. Memory 3: Tim Ferris finds my advertisement for the gym and posts it up on his IG. Kind of cool and flattering considering I had been a huge fan of his work. :B Memory 4: Tony Jaa coming to TBI! Who wasn’t inspired by ‘Ong Bak’ to do muay thai? Aside from being a very sweet and humble person, he is amazingly talented and athletic. That day i saw him do some INCREDIBLE things. Inspiring. full video on our youtube :) Memory 5: Our first and last pub crawl. Come on; if you were there you would remember the utter shitshow this was. Never again. Memory 6: I think enough has been said about this. Grateful for everyone’s help and the outreach to help get us back on our feet. TBI: KINTSUGI. At least i got to sleep in that monday ;) Memory 7: Building the ring. LOL. how many PHD’s, PHD students, grad students, and computer programmers does it take to build a ring? hilarious. ❤️ #vamosTBI #muaythai #marvista
