THAILAND TRIP

Have you ever been to Thailand? No. I haven’t. But I will be, next month.

— In 5 weeks i’m heading off to Thailand for about ~3 weeks to train at @sitjaphao -So i’m starting to get ready now. I want to be ready and in shape so that the acclimation is as seamless (and painless hehe) as possible.

— Generally I consider myself to be in decent shape but hitting pads, clinching and sparring are a whole other deal and if you’re a coach you could probably relate to how difficult it is to get the consistent style of training that you provide to your clients/members.

— So, i’m getting all my ducks in a row so to speak. Training one of the guys to be a coach to help out while i’m away and he’s acting as pad holder for me while he helps me get my reflexes tight, losing some weight so that I can be more agile and running longer to get my stamina on point.

— In the 8 years of running the gym, this is the longest I will have ever been away and although there is trepidation, I can honestly say i’m a little ‘excited’ to be going. Truly, truly grateful to all the coaches, staff, members and my executive clients that have been so understanding and supportive of me taking the time off to become a better version of myself. Looking forward to it, we’ll see how it goes :B

With all that being said- yes I will be gone for 3 weeks from friday DEC 14th and will be back teaching Saturday, Jan 4th. Looking forward to it but am already missing being at the TBI and hanging out with the crew.

While im away coach miguel will be running the gym and classes along with coach drew, coach rob and soon enough coach javier. Javier has been helping us run and teach the teens and kids classes for the last couple of months and is now in training to be an assistant coach/ pad holder to coach miguel and coach drew.

Javier was one of my first students back when i first started my coaching career teaching muay thai at 10th planet burbank 10 years ago. He has been involved in muay thai on/off since and has been training at TBI since i basically opened it 8 years ago. He is dedicated, has an excellent training and work ethic, follows combat sports very closely and most importantly has a very sweet, gentle and caring personality. Just not while he spars ;P

Thank you javier for stepping up to the commitment as well a giant thank you to coach miguel for stepping up to the responsibilities and for the entire community at TBI for always being supportive. Much love.
