April Newsletter

HELLO.

I know it’s been a bit since our last newsletter and I apologize for the lack of updates but if you’ve been at the gym you may realize we have been in fight training season for the better part of the last two months and currently we have a team of fighters preparing for the big tournament in Arizona at the end of this month.

Any support would be greatly appreciated; Pad work such as thai pads, focus mitts and kick shield, sparring, clinch work, drilling and general moral support!

Everyone is looking fit, focused and determined. Let’s keep this momentum going.

¡VAMOS TBI!

Arizona Tournament

With all that being said, Myself and a team of TBI members as well as coaches will be heading to Arizona at the end of the month to participate in one of the biggest national Muay Thai tournaments of the year; The USMTO West Muay Thai Tourney. We have 3 different fighters competing; Greego will be making his amateur debut in C class, Jeannie will be making her come back competing in B class and Coach Miguel will be making his Muay Thai debut competing in A class. Lets wish them the best and provide as much support as possible.

The gym will be open for that weekend with classes being ran as normal by Lee so please make sure to show up and train 🙂

If you are interested in Road tripping or Flying out to support the team, please let me know or organize amongst each other. We have a few planning to go so maybe connect with the members and figure it out. It’s a weekend thing with fights happening all day long. It’s a ton of fun and a great way to get involved with the community.

Thai New Year

Maybe you’re staying in town? If you have that Sunday free, come out and support the Thai community in celebrating Thai New Year in Thai Town On Sunday, April 28, 2019. There will be a ton of demonstrations and exhibits but typically the highlight of the afternoon are Muay Thai fights going on throughout the day. Make sure you dressed appropriately as it can get pretty sunny and maybe consider ride sharing :).

Re: Our Members And Athletes

First, as always- would like to thank everyone at TBI for their support, for the members that helped warsame train, to coach Miguel for the corner help, to those who bought tickets and came out on a very early Saturday morning, to big troy and everyone at wckmuaythai for providing us a venue and a great opportunities for our fighters to grow and to our opponents for taking the fight and giving us a good match up.⁣ ⁣ Unfortunately we came up short and lost a very close decision in what might have been one of the most insane fights i have every cornered. What a fucking fight! luckily no one was seriously injured (maybe just our egos ;P).⁣ ⁣ As much as we plan, prepare and strategize, there will always be things that are beyond our control or unexpected, and for that we must always fall back onto what we are ultimately doing; in it's most rudimentary distillation, which is, to just FIGHT.⁣ ⁣ Now, what i am about to say is shouldn't be meant as an excuse but rather a testament to this young mans bravery, tenacity and warrior spirit. Taking the fight on two weeks notice after only training for about five months and taking his first 'exhibition' just to weeks before that? If that's not courage then i don't know what the fuck the word even means then.⁣ ⁣ It's these moments that gives us growth and teaches us lessons, and for that I am super thankful, and even more so, truly, genuinely inspired as a person and as a coach. Much like y'all learn from me, I learn as much from you and am always proud, win or lose. Just like we remain humble in victory, we must remain humble in defeat.⁣ ⁣ Learn, and move forward.⁣ ⁣ xo.⁣ ⁣ 📷: @jeanjeanjeannie ⁣ ⁣ #vamosTBI #muaythai #nakmuay #kickboxing #muaythailife #muaythaitraining #thaiboxing #boxing #mixedmartialarts #martialarts #marvista #marinadelrey #culvercity #westla #venice #venicebeach #fitness #martialarts #mma⁣ ⁣ ⁣ ⁣
