Another tko for jeannie this last sat, making it her second in a row… much respect to her opponent and gym, we wish them the best. Much love and thanks to everyone at #tbi for their support, positive energy, and patience, this is as much as a victory for us as it is for jeannie and couldn't have not happened without the gyms support. To all the coaches, much love as well for all the help, keeping order and sanity during the classes and for helping jeannie out. A big thank you to @818boxing for helping jeannie with all the boxing sparring, thank you for being such a great friend and lending a hand. Finally a big thank you to @wckmuaythai, big troy, dennis warner, the entire staff as well as the IKF for making the event and weigh in’s happen so fast and smoothly. This was a great milestone for the gym. I am inspired by you all and it helps motivate me to become a better person, a smarter person, a nicer more understanding person and willing to do whatever i can to help all of you out. Even with 5 weeks of prep, we were able to train properly, make weigh fine, and implement the new training and conditioning protocols that i have learned from @speedofsport (thank you for your wisdom, it helped a ton for this camp). The teams improvement as well as the skill level overall within the gym is humbling. I’m touched that you have the confidence in me to train y’all and practice all these new techniques. Today i am a proud coach, but tomorrow is a new day and time to get back to work. I’m excited for the future, for more fights, for more tournaments, and for more progress. Much love as always. #muaythai #tbi #thethaiboxinginstitute #thaiboxing #martialarts #mma #boxing #fitness #workout #fighting #gym #life #marvista #santamonica #venice #venicebeach #culvercity #palms #westla #losangeles #instadaily #art #fun

Re:  Liam Harrison and Vinny Shoreman Seminar

We are less than a month away, prices have gone up for non-members but TBI members can still get entry for the seminar at the original price of $100.  Please note that i’m just trying to break even so understand the hefty price tag on this seminar.  Well worth it since we have an international and well accomplished muay thai champion as well a world recognized mental coach, fight commentator and practitioner.  The amount of knowledge that’s gonna be shared in one night definitely justifies the price of entry.  Anyways– we have a little under 10 spots left.  Don’t wait till the last minute!  Please note that the gym will be closed on that night due to the private event.  Members, if you have an issue with that please contact me directly.  Thank you all for the support and understanding.

just a quick note, the @liam_badco and @vinnyshoreman seminar pricing is about to go up in less than two weeks (feb 14th), and we are already half way sold out. so maybe instead of valentines dinner at @lawrystheprimerib you and your bae can hit up @sizzlerusa or perhaps @outback – if she/he loves you like they say they do they will understand where the funds will be invested into. Purchase your spot on our website (link in bio) and please share and repost! thanks!#muaythai #tbi #thethaiboxinginstitute #thaiboxing #martialarts #mma #boxing #fitness #workout #fighting #gym #life #marvista #santamonica #venice #venicebeach #culvercity #palms #westla #losangeles #instadaily #art #fun

Fight Announcements and Fight Team Try-outs

Ok, so we have a couple of busy months in regards to people fighting.  We have chaz possibly making his debut at the end of March (still waiting match-up confirmation)- then we head to Arizona at the end of April for the US Muay Thai Open tournament in Phoenix.  April 26th-29th.  We have 3 fighters on deck, Lee, Erin, and Jeannie.  So in that regard, i believe it’s time to add some structure to our training regiments and sessions.

The reasoning behind establishing a fight team serves many purposes.  Within the fight team there will be many roles such as:  The Fighters (duh), Pad holders, Sparring Partners, Drilling Partners, Clinching Partners and Misc. Training Partners (Strength Training, Running, Fitness etc.)

Technically, you don’t HAVE to fight, i would prefer that you did but i won’t push the issue.

So, if you are interested in joining the fight team, these next two and half months will be a sort of test run.

Chaz begins Fight camp Feb 9th and will run till the end of March, The Arizona Trio being March 12th and will run through the end of April.

Logistically this will be tough for Both Coach Vik (myself) and Coach Miguel since we handle the bulk of the fighter trainings along with running the classes.  In order to alleviate some of these pressures and as well as the stresses our bodies take from training and holding for the fighters we will be delegating some of the training to potential members of the fight team.

The main, main things i’m looking for is structure, organization, and most importantly commitment.

I can’t stress commitment enough.

Commitment(Structure+Organization)=Success

Success is the product of all these things that meld together.  Success is something i believe we should all strive for and i personally as a coach wouldn’t settle for less, in myself or in those that want to train under me.

We will have a schedule as well as a sign up for all the different positions that we will need help with.  I already have some people on deck but of course the more help we can get the easier things will be for everyone.

I understand that most of us lead very busy lives.  Naturally, living in LA, we all work long hard hours and suffer burn out from the grind.  That’s understandable.

So, in regards to commitment, if you decide to try out, and sign up, you will be held accountable for your role and will be called out and most likely excused from the fight team participation for excessive ‘Bailing Out’.

That is why we will have a schedule as well as sign ups, everything will be marked, and all information will be recorded.  No confusions.  No excuses.

So, please heed my warning.  I hate to be so stern with all these request but i just want to make the message crystal fucking clear.

‘If i have the time i’ll come and help out.’  NO.

‘I will commit, make the time, and adjust my schedule’  YES.

Everyone’s time is important.  Time is something that is finite, and something we can never get back, please respect everyone’s time and don’t consider yours more important than others.  Capiche?

OK.  with that out of the way, the final two things i will say in regards to fight team requirements are that i will most likely need some sort of six month commitment for potential candidates.  Either a 3x a week or unlimited contract.  or prepaid tuition.  So in lieu of paying for fight team training, i’m just asking you to commit to something so that i know you won’t just bail in the middle of everything.  See how cool i am?  I’m asking you to pay LESS?!  what kind of business model is that?  I’m a dummy right?

oh and equipment needed aside from the obvious (headgear, elbow pads, kneepads, protective equipment etc) will be a heart rate monitor.

Benefits?  fuck.  where do i begin?  Sponsorships, coaching Insight from myself, the practice of training people, fighter and athlete management and development.  Your training and fight IQ will dramatically increase with all the extra training.  participation in fight team only events, training classes, sparring field trips.  yada yada yada…

You get the point?

Does this sound like something that is interesting to you?  Then maybe talk to me and sign up!

Ok, i believe that’s it.  Many thanks!
